Mike Duclos founded Energy Efficiency Associates prompted by the increasing interest in
energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.
Mike co-founded DEAP Energy Group with Paul Panish and Paul Eldrenkamp to take comfort and energy efficiency in homes to the next level.
Mike's experience leading an integrated circuits design team in a ‘bet the company’ project
demonstrated to him the value of computer modeling before construction, as well as the
extraordinary results that can be achieved using this disciplined methodology, in addition to a structured design and implementation process which involves all players from the start. .
Mike wants to deliver this kind of technology to the home design, building and renovation
markets, where there is a large opportunity to increase comfort and building durability, and decrease costs and energy use.
"Passive House design advocates improving the design of homes by careful attention to the details, and
understanding and using the principles of physics at work in buildings.
We can build much better buildings, for a reasonable additional up-front cost, that will be returned in
increased comfort and energy savings for the life of the home.
Treating the home as an integrated system is key to achieving this goal.
Our homes are very important to us, we should treat the design and improvement of our homes with the
appropriate care and attention to detail."
Mike holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
The Passive House Standard is the most rigorous building energy standard in the world.
Consultants, projects or building components that have obtained the right to carry the logo have committed themselves to design excellence and the Passive House energy performance criteria.
